• Check your e‐mail for a listing of rides. Schedules should be sent by early evening.

  • If you find a ride you want respond by, Reply All. That way no one else will take that ride.

  • Call Jenny or Susan if you have questions about a ride or passenger.

  • Call the passenger as soon as you confirm the ride via e‐mail and introduce yourself.

  • Call the passenger again the night before to confirm again.

  • Travel with your cell phone and have the client’s cell phone number if they have one.

  • Keep Susan or Jenny’s number in your phone. Susan 443‐243‐8044 Jenny 410‐322‐5389.

  • We are door to door. That means if the client does not specify that she will come to your car, you must get out of the car and walk to the door. In apartment buildings the client will be in the downstairs lobby area. You do not go up to the apartment unless there is a reason, like carrying groceries.

  • Always open the passenger side door for the client. The passenger usually sits in the front. Show the client where to hold on or step to get into the car. Many clients have arthritis, low vision and limited mobility.

  • Assess the client quickly. If they seem unsteady offer assistance.

  • Help with the seat belt. Many passengers cannot see where to lock the seatbelt.

  • Try to be as pleasant as possible during the ride. You are the face of Senior Express.

  • Make sure you and your client have communicated clearly as to the place and the time for you to return.

  • Call Susan or Jenny after the ride to report on the outcome if there was a problem. If we do not hear from you we will assume all went well and the passenger is safely home.

  • Make sure your car is in good working order and reasonably clean.

  • Make sure names and personal data and health informatiostays confidential.

  • Stay at least 3 car lengths behind the car in front of you and obey all traffic rules and regulations.

  • Be aware of your surroundings no matter what neighborhood you are in.

  • Never leave your car unlocked or running even if you are walking away from it for a short time. Opportunity is what thieves look for.

  • Remember we are a service organization. We give service in a kind, polite, and hopefully enjoyable manner. If you have a personality clash with someone you do not have to drive them.
